It’s the start of another week, which means a new batch of movies is hitting the best streaming services. And while the next seven days are a little light on new selections from the theater, platforms like Netflix, Hulu and Peacock have new moves for subscribers.
This week may lack the heavy headlines of recent weeks, but it’s not short on quality. In my opinion, “Monkey Man” is considered one of the most overlooked gems of the year, but its arrival at the Peacock should ensure that it receives at least some of the attention it deserves. It’s Dev Patel’s directorial debut and perfect for “John Wick” fans.
Other movies you won’t want to miss this week include a heartwarming documentary about a legendary actor (“Remembering Gene Wilder”) and an animated superhero movie that looks like perfect entertainment for the whole family (“Ultraman: Rising”).
If you’re looking for all the top movies streaming this week, you’ve come to the right place. And don’t forget to check out our roundup of the best new TV shows to watch this week, too.

“BRATS” (Hulu)
The 1980s was an iconic time in Hollywood history, and nothing sums up the era more than the ‘Brat Pack’, a group of young stars who shaped a generation and starred in some of the period’s most iconic films. “BRATS” is an original documentary from director Andrew McCarthy (who was also part of the team) that attempts to reunite the motley crew with recognizable faces such as Rob Lowe, Demi Moore, Jon Cryer, Lea Thompson and Ally Sheedy . Some of these reunions take 30 years, and McCarthy not only gathers his old friends for a cocktail mixer, but also explores what it meant to be part of the Brat Pack. Unfortunately, key team members Molly Ringwald and Judd Nelson declined to participate, but “BRATS” is still a must-watch documentary for nostalgic movie fans.

“Mimkey Man” (Peacock)
A stylish and violent revenge thriller in the mold of ‘John Wick’, ‘Monkey Man’ takes the action to the streets of India and sees Dev Patel in the lead role and making his directorial debut. Patel plays an unnamed protagonist who spends his nights living a meager life in an underground fight club. But when he discovers a way to infiltrate Mumbai’s upper class, he aims to bring down the city’s ruling class. But the eponymous monkey-masked hero isn’t just fueled by a desire to stand up for the downtrodden, he’s also driven by a need for revenge as he seeks retribution for a tragic event in his past. “Monkey Man” is a high-energy action film that features some of the best fight sequences you’ll see this year, and the deeply personal stakes give each action scene extra sparkle.

“Ultraman: Rising” (Netflix)
Netflix is hoping to bring “Ultraman” to an even bigger audience with this cartoon featuring the popular Japanese hero. In “Ultraman: Rising,” Ken Sato (voiced by Christopher Sean in the English dub) is a superstar baseball player who must return to Tokyo after the city is threatened by giant monsters. Taking on the Ultraman mantle, Ken’s life becomes even more complicated when he adopts a baby kaji after defeating its mother. If reluctant parenthood wasn’t enough, he must also navigate a complicated relationship with his estranged father. In addition, the robot-suited hero must also thwart the persistent scheming of the Kaiju defense force, who plan to exploit the 35-foot-long fire-breathing baby for their nefarious purposes.

“I Saw the Flash of TV” (PVOD)
Even though I haven’t been able to catch “I Saw the TV Glow” yet (although it’s very high on my watch list), its trailer is giving me serious “Videodrome” vibes, and that made me very excited to finally watch it when it comes out. it hits streaming later this week. The intense horror drama stars Justice Smith and Brigette Lundy-Paine as two young friends who become obsessed with a mysterious late-night TV show that offers them a glimpse into a surreal and sinister supernatural world. But as Owen (Smith) becomes increasingly moved by what he sees on his television screen, his grip on reality begins to loosen, and things get darker from there. This is going to be creepy.
