Vivek Dahiya officially made his Bollywood debut with the movie Chal Zindagi. The Yeh Hai Mohabbatein actor, who was last seen with his actress-wife Divyanka Tripathi in Nach Baliye 9, is back after 4 years. However, in a recent interview Vivek shared that even though he was ready for Bollywood since long, he faced the harsh reality of being a TV actor when he started auditioning.
“I continued to work in television for about 3 years and then did a reality show, Nach Baliye, with my wife Divyanka. After that, I thought I’m ready for the bigger screen. Before that, I didn’t think I had the ability to carry a movie on my shoulder. Why should people come to watch Vivek Dahiya? Who is this? But after 3-4 years of making a name for myself, I thought I was ready. But when I was ready, I realized that I have been labeled as a ‘television actor,’” Vivek told Sidharth Kannan in one of his recent podcasts.
The actor also revealed that every time he auditioned or met producers, he was told, “You’ve got potential, but you’ve done TV. you shouldn’t have done that.” Not only that, but Dahiya also recalled how he was asked to sit at home for 3 to 4 years and keep auditioning. “I would be shortlisted and in the final rounds, someone from studio or the producer or director would feel, ‘It’s too TV,’” he added.
The Bollywood debutant also revealed how he launched his first film and shared, “I rushed it. Jab tak dikhunga nahi, toh bikunga kaise? Once people see me, let them decide if I’m TV or movie material.”
Vivek Dahiya’s debut film ‘Chal Zindagi’ revolves around the lives of four strangers who take a bike trip to Leh, Ladakh, which changes their perception of life through their journey. Directed by Vivek Sharma, the film also starred Kumar Sannu’s daughter Shannon. Chal Zindagi hit the theaters last month.
