He is the popular Australian actor who is best known for his incredible roles in The Mentalist and many Hollywood movies.
But Simon Baker made fans do a double take as he revealed his shocking new look for his role in indigenous filmmaker Ivan Sen’s new film Limbo.
In a sneak peek for the film, the 53-year-old looked unrecognizable with short hair and a bushy beard.
The actor has long been known for his luscious long blonde wavy locks, but he chopped off his famous hair for his new role.
The film follows Simon Travis’ character as he arrives in a small Australian town to investigate a twenty-year-old murder.
Travis meets and bonds with those affected by the homicide and uncovers the challenging truths surrounding injustice and loss.
According to The Guardian, the film is “the sands of crime, but a heartbeat of compassion.”
The film also stars Mystery Road actor Rob Collins and Rabbit Proof Fence’s Natasha Wanganeen.
Director Ivan discussed the film’s meanings and thought-provoking discussions at the Berlinale International Film Festival in Berlin.
He explained during the panel that one of the topics is “the unresolved issues that Indigenous Australians face when it comes to being victims of crime in Australia”.
It had its world premiere at the film festival on February 23, 2023.
Limbo will be shown on Sunday 9 July at 8.30pm on ABC TV and ABC IVIEW.
