‘Annaatthe’

Rajinikanth’s ‘Annaatthe’ was released on the occasion of Diwali 2021 and the film was released in fewer screens overseas due to the pandemic situation. ‘Annaatthe’ reportedly grossed 70 crores worldwide on Day 1 and normal release for Rajinikanth overseas could have made the film earn a bigger number. Directed by Siruthai Siva, ‘Annaatthe’ received mixed reviews and the film failed to do well at the box office.

Rajinikanth chose to join hands with director Karthik Subbaraj for ‘Petta’ and the action drama directed by an ardent fan of the actor turned into a special fan film. ‘Petta’ clashed with Ajith’s ‘Viswasam’ at the box office and this made the film split its screens in both the films. Despite the clash, ‘Petta’ reportedly earned nearly Rs 37 cores worldwide on Day 1, while the overseas collection looked stronger.
