Having ridden a wave of bad taste to success with the Human Centipede trilogy, Dutch director Tom Six had much less joy in finding a distributor for his latest film.
The Onania Club it’s not exactly an easy sell, as it’s a group of women who are sexually aroused only by seeing suffering and tragedy, but actually well reviewed when Six sent projectors to a handful of stores in 2019. The film includes footage of real-life tragedies like 9/11, which is probably the most problematic aspect of the black-and-white feature from the lady joy material.
Six claims of “political correctness” are behind the film’s struggle to find a distributor and that it has been roundly rejected by every festival it has submitted to.

Considering the massive shock value of the Human Centipede films, even though the first one is a “feat”it seems strange to think that this could be worse, but Six himself admitted that times have changed when he interviewed Vice a few years ago. Even the distributor for his previous work repeated this when he turned down the opportunity to release The Onania Club.
The director sees the film as a dark satire of the Hollywood elite, and this, combined with repeated rants about censorship and cries of conspiracy, both help and hinder his vision. It hasn’t stopped people from campaigning for the film’s release, but since nothing has changed two years after the Vice interview, Tom Six may have to find alternative methods.
