Sunny Deol cried after the release of Gadar 2
While talking to an online entertainment news portal, Anil Sharma hailed Zee Studios for its amazing marketing strategy for Gadar 2. The director reveals that unbeknownst to him, the studios had arranged some late night shows at 3:00 am. for the public. Had he known, he would have denied the same. But the shows also ran videos of audience reaction Gadar 2 went viral on the internet. Sharma was taken aback by the audience’s reactions and spent the next hour or so watching them.
But then his whole mood changed. Anil Sharma reveals that he called Sunny Deol who was already watching the videos of the audience he was enjoying Gadar 2 in the theaters. Sunny told him that she had been up since 6 am and was also watching the videos. Sunny Deol then got emotional and started crying over the phone, she reveals. The director was surprised because he heard Sunny crying for the first time. “Sharma ji, we did it,” was Sunny’s reaction, shares the director. Hearing the hero cry, Anil and his wife also shed tears. “It was very emotional,” the director tells ETimes.

The Ameesha Patel and Sunny Deol starrer film opened to 40.10 crores. It continued to cut money over the next two days, successfully milking the long holiday weekend. Neither Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam stars OMG 2 nor Rajinikanth star Jailer affected the release. Within three days, Gadar 2 crossed Rs 100 crores. In a week, Gadar 2 did a business of Rs.284.63 crores. The film dropped in the second week but added another 134.47 crores thus crossing the 400 crore mark. It is likely to earn 6 crore today, as per early trends.
