Anurag Kashyap: ‘I regret never focusing on money’ | Bollywood

Anurag Kashyap turns 51 today. In a recent interview with Puja Talwar, the director and actor revealed one of the biggest regrets of his life. Anurag’s confession

“My biggest regret is that I never paid attention or focused on money. Because of which when you reach a certain age, you realize that it is also important. Kuchh zyada hi charitable tha main (I was very charitable). These are the things I need to change. And I’m changing. I have to watch it. One doesn’t want to build an empire or anything like that. But there has to be enough in life,” Anurag said in the interview.

Anurag on his relationship with money

In another interview with Movie companion, Anurag shed more light on his relationship with money. “Money is important to me only when it is needed. Main jaisi filmein karta hu, zaroori nahi ki har bar filmein hit ho (The kind of films I do, it is not necessary that they all become hits). People think that movies are not commercially viable. Sometimes, I’ve lost my fees and sometimes, I’ve been paid when the films are project sets from producers or the films have come my way instead of chasing them. Such moments, my others come from acting,” Anurag said in the interview.

Anurag revealed that he gets paid more for his gigs, although he is primarily a director. He was last seen acting in Akshat Sharma’s crime drama Haddi, alongside long-time co-star Nawazuddin Siddiqui, airing on ZEE5. He was also seen as an actor in Aasmaan Bhardwaj’s action thriller Kuttey, Pushpendra Nath Mishra’s 2020 ZEE5 drama Ghoomketu, Netflix India’s 2020 black comedy thriller AK vs AK18milkahr, Vikramaditya Motwane and the action I.

Anurag also joked that he wants to direct a film so that he can finance his daughter Aaliyah Kashyap’s upcoming wedding. His daughter recently got engaged. Anurag’s last directorial venture was the romantic comedy Almost Pyaar With DJ Mohabbat. His next directorial venture is the crime thriller Kennedy, starring Rahul Bhat and Sunny Leone, which will release later this year.
