Angelina Jolie looked a world away from her usual self as she got into character on the set of new biopic Maria in Greece on Saturday.
The 48-year-old actress transformed into iconic opera singer Maria Callas while shooting scenes for the upcoming film in Athens.
Angelina oozed glamor as she styled her black tresses into Maria’s famous ’50s hairdo with statement jewellery.
On the set of the upcoming biopic, Angelina was seen arriving on a boat wearing a shimmering blue satin robe, clutching a designer bag.
The Hollywood redhead looked happy and relaxed while having the task of delivering the image herself.
She looked to be in high spirits as cameras caught her smiling and laughing with the crew on set in the sunny destination.
The biography Maria is a film, directed by Pablo Larraín, about the iconic opera singer Maria Callas that will follow her turbulent life and legacy.
Angelina is lucky enough to wear some of Callas’ actual clothes in the film, including vintage furs from Massimo Cantini Parrini’s archive collection.
Maria, one of the most famous and influential opera singers of the 20th century, died in 1977.
The artist was known for her incredible range on stage as well as her turbulent love life which included an affair with Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis, who married Jackie Kennedy.
“I take responsibility for Maria’s life and legacy very seriously,” Angelina previously said in a statement. “I will give my best to rise to the challenge.”
The Tomb Raider star also mentioned the film’s director, Pablo, who she said she has “long admired.”
The mother-of-six added: “To be given the chance to tell more of Maria’s story with him, and with a script by Steven Knight, is a dream come true.”
Jolie has played famous people before: In 1998, she starred as tragic supermodel Gia Carangi in Gia, and in 2007, she starred as Mariana Pearl in A Mighty Heart.
The director, who is best known for biopics Jackie (about Jackie Kennedy, played by Natalie Portman) and Spencer (about Princess Diana, played by Kristen Stewart), said: “Having the opportunity to combine my two deepest and most personal passions. , cinema and opera, it was a long-awaited dream,” said Larraín.
“Doing this with Angelina, an incredibly brave and quirky artist, is an exciting opportunity. A real gift.”
