Salman Khan, one of the most famous Bollywood stars, attributed the box office failure of the 2023 film Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan at reduced ticket prices. In a recent interview, Khan expressed his belief that the film’s lower-than-expected earnings were a result of conscious efforts to keep ticket prices affordable for audiences.
“When these films were released, people were not going to theatres,” Khan said in a roundtable interview, reported by the Indian Express. “Also, we didn’t do blockbuster prices. We went for popular prices.”
“Our box office numbers were lower in those movies, but we focused on saving the audience money. How much did you watch Tiger 3 in the? Rs 600, Rs 1000?’ Khan argued. Khan further explained that while the film’s ticket numbers were lower, they made a conscious decision to keep the ticket prices under Rs 250 to make the film more accessible to a wider audience.
He said, “Yay Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan and Anti, our prices were not more than Rs.250. Ek toh achha karo bhai. Humare number kam aa rahe hai, lekin audiences ka paisa bach raha hai (We earned less but saved the audience money in the process. We did a good deed). If Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan had it been released today, the numbers would be much higher than what they were.”
Coming to the professional front, as mentioned above, Khan’s recent film Tiger 3 currently playing in theaters. He has a bunch of projects in his kitty, including The bull, which will be produced under Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. He will also be reuniting with Sooraj Bharjatya for a film.
