Dakota John revealed that she hasn't watched Madame Web.
The Spiderman universe film has been wildly received by critics, and even its star said she'd rather go out to dinner than see it.
“I haven't actually seen the movie,” Dakota admitted ruefully in an interview with Magic FM radio, adding that during the film's premiere, “I'm going to go eat.”
“I don't know when I'll see it,” Dakota, 34, continued. “Someday.”
The actress explained that she often doesn't watch her own movies.
“For me it's a way to not have an existential crisis,” he joked. “Not watching my movies is like taking care of myself.”
In the film, Dakota plays a New York nurse who finds herself with supernatural powers thanks to a mutated gene.
Released on February 15, the film was panned by both general audiences and critics alike, achieving a meager 17% “fresh” rating on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes.
A review hitting Madame Web described it as “as dumb and diabolical as the worst of the genre”.
On X/Twitter, Spiderverse fans were quick to express their disappointment.
One called it, “a boring, poorly written, messy and sloppy film filled with mediocre editing and acting.”
While another said it was “a series of missed opportunities and missed opportunities”.
