It’s been a while since ‘Ashwatthama’ was announced. The film was to be directed by Aditya Dhar and Vicky Kaushal was supposed to play the title role. However, several glitches kept cropping up in the film! From the producers walking out of the project to Allu Arjun replacing Vicky Kaushal – there were several rumours. However, recently in February, during the trailer launch of ‘Article 370’, Aditya had said that the project has been stopped.
He had said, “We’ve put it on the back burner right now. I’ll be honest, the vision we all had for it was too big to work for Indian cinema. The kind of VFX quality we were looking for No one has even attempted this here until the technology becomes affordable or movie theaters increase, we’ll have to wait.”
And now here is some news! The film is being made with Shahid Kapoor in the lead and is not going to be directed by Aditya Dhar. Shahid announced the film today which is called ‘Aswatthama: The Saga Continues’ and is directed by Sachin Ravi. The film will be a pan-Indian film that will be released in five languages - Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.
The project will be supported by Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani and Deepshikha Deshmukh. Rumors have been rife for some time now that Shahid has signed a film with Jackky as he was also present at his wedding with Rakul Preet Singh in Goa.
Shahid was last seen in ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’ and is currently shooting for ‘Deva’.
