George RR Martin may be best known for the fictional world of Westeros, but longtime fans know that he began his career writing science fiction. Nor has his love for the genre ever waned. Nor does he have the desire to work on science fiction stories. The author has shared the first set photo from his upcoming short film ‘The Summer Machine’, the first part of an anthology he’s producing.
Deadline shared the first image from production on “The Summer Machine”. Writer-director Michael Cassutt’s short film (The twilight zone) reportedly just finished filming. Little is known about the short beyond what this set photo and its cast reveal. Starring Lina Esco, Charles Martin Smith and Matt Frewer. Martin shared a funny comment about the project. He said Deadline“Summer is coming.”
And other shorts apparently are too. This is the first in what is supposed to be an anthology series. As long as others write these shorts, a series of sci-fi anthology films produced by George RR Martin won’t be just a fantasy.
