Lionsgate releases trailer for new Adam Driver movie after fake reviews

by Stewart Cole

Lionsgate has released a trailer for the upcoming film Megalopolis due to the use of fake quotes by film critics.

Self-financed by legendary director Francis Ford Coppola after trying to make it in Hollywood for decades, the film is a sci-fi take on the fall of Rome with a cast that includes Adam Driver, Natalie Emmanuel, Aubrey Plaza and Giancarlo. Esposito.

Via Varietythe now-deleted trailer included quotes from critics slamming Coppola’s previous films that are now considered classics, in an attempt to create a narrative that this new film can overcome any negativity and become a cornerstone of cinema.

However, people have noticed that featured quotes aren’t appearing in reviews at all. In the case of Roger Ebert’s “a triumph of style over substance” quote, which the trailer claimed was about Coppola’s film Bram Stoker’s Dracula from 1992, it’s actually from his review of Tim Burton Batman three years earlier.

One of the reviewers falsely listed is VarietyOwen Gleiberman. He also criticized Coppola’s vampire film at the time, but did not call it “a beautiful mess” as indicated in the trailer.

“Even if you’re one of those people who don’t like critics, we hardly deserve to put words in our mouths,” he said.

“Again, the trifling scandal of all this is that the whole Megalopolis The trailer is based on a false narrative. The critics loved it The Godfather. And yet Revelation now it was divisive, it received a lot of critical critical support.”

Lionsgate apologized for the controversy, saying in a statement: “Lionsgate is immediately withdrawing our trailer for Megalopolis.

“We sincerely apologize to the reviewers involved and to Francis Ford Coppola and American Zoetrope for this unforgivable error in our review process. We ruined them. We’re sorry.”

Megalopolis is set to hit UK and US cinemas on September 27.
