Chris Pratt is Garfield’s new voice in an upcoming Sony Pictures animated film, according to a report by the Hollywood Reporter. The lazy orange cat is notorious for hating Mondays, so it’s a good idea for this news to come out on Monday.
The upcoming animated film was the first announced in 2016. It will be directed by Mary Dindal (Little Chicken) written by David Reynolds (Finding Nemo). The last time the couple collaborated was in the 2000s The Emperor’s New Groove.
Pratt also plays Mario in the upcoming Super Mario Bros. movie. Mario. His previous voice commands include Barley at Pixar’s Forward and Emmett inside The Lego movie. It is known whether or not Pratt will release a video on Instagram talking about his love of lasagna and Garfield, but Monday is still short.
Garfield first appeared in newspapers in 1978, and since then the cat has appeared on numerous television shows and in two theatrical hybrid animated live-action films, with three direct-to-video films. In the 2004 and 2006 films, Garfield was voiced by comedian Bill Murray, with his owner Jon Arbuckle, played by Breckin Meyer (Robot chicken).
