Castle Falls is the first film directed by protagonist Dolph Lundgren in over a decade. The action film is straight and in essence. Castle Falls Hospital is about to be demolished. Unbeknownst to most, a gang leader hid millions of dollars in cash there before being taken to prison. This leads to a frantic struggle where lives along with a lot of money hang in the balance.
Despite the action, the story tries to focus on its characters. “I was looking for a small (character-oriented) movie,” Lundgren told AIPT. There is an interesting dynamic between Richard Ericson of Lundgren and co-star Scott Adkins (Mike Wade). Erickson almost plays a mentor, which is a good place to see Ludgren. That doesn’t mean Richard is less imposing, though.

It also brings a new perspective to Castle Falls. Richard is not a gray-haired old man trying to help young Wade. He has a personal reason for wanting to get the money, while Wade sees cash as a way out of his hard life. His decisions are based on what happens in his life, but they are also driven more by emotion.
One of its highlights Castle Falls is the chemistry between Lundgren and Adkins. “There was a lot of trust and exchange of feelings,” Ludgren said. “It simply came to our notice then. Many were unspeakable. We are doing well and this appeared on the screen “.
Unfortunately, this same characterization does not extend to the wicked. They are more or less bad cookie cutters. Castle Falls he never tries to make them more than crazy, bad, stupid or a combination. At times it ends up being silly. Castle Falls is more than just a bunch of people trying to kill each other for millions of dollars. Richard Emily’s daughter plays an important role. In a case where art mimics life, the character plays Ludgren’s true daughter, Ida.
“It was a lot of fun and satisfying,” Lundgren said of working with his daughter. “She was prepared and played (her role) well. She is a good performer. It’s just a matter of whether he can handle the other side of the show. I want to help her. Everyone in this business can use a little help. I had it when I started “.
For better or for worse, Castle Falls ends up being a typical action movie fare. There are no shades of gray, which makes it easy to get behind the heroes. It is always fun to watch an adventure movie where the lines are clearly defined. Writing does not always respond to action, but it does do enough to keep things interesting.
