The snake-haired Mermaid, whose gaze can turn men to stone, long ago slipped from the popular Greek myth on the big screen, but always as an auxiliary player or a scary obstacle for the heroes to overcome. Fangoria Studios are being developed now Jellyfish, a horror film that will finally give a closer look at the legendary figure.
Deadline it’s mentioned that Anna Sazel (Narrow, Anemone) is designated for the writing, directing and executive production of the upcoming project.
“It is easy to demonize Medusa, but her story is full of justified female wrath, both for the gods who created her and for the mortals who seek to destroy her,” Sazel told Deadline. “I am excited to dive into the story of her birth in the Greek pantheon and I hope to challenge Medusa’s widely accepted definition as a mere monster.”
“Medusa is a global symbol, but its history has been ignored for too long,” said Aghaeian, who serves as the SVP of Fangoria Studios. “The interpretation of Anna Medusa with a background of Ancient Greece will make a cinematic journey unforgettable.”
Tara Ansley, Poor saint, and Abhi Goel will make the film for Fangoria Studios, with Phil Wurtzel Production manager through his production company, Friel Films.
