The long-awaited fifth Scream The film finally hits theaters next month, making it the franchise’s first film in over ten years. Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette all return to their iconic roles and directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett (Ready or not) take over the late, great Wes Craven. The movie, which is just titled Scream, I got some great character posters this week, and not only that. A new featurette has been released, which starts with Arquette asking the question “What makes a good horror movie?”
In the video, Arquette answers his own question: “I think he is a very strong villain.” Next, the movie includes much of the cast of the movie that talks about Ghostface. “Looking forward to the new #ScreamMovie? Here’s a little fun for you fans. Watch the new movie in theaters on January 14, 2022,” the official Instagram account for Scream wrote a caption on the video. You can check it below:
In a recent interview with US Weekly, Kevin Williamson, executive producer of the new film and author of the original, explained the choice to remove “5” from the title.
“It simply came to our notice then Scream 5 “Because it’s the fifth,” Williamson explained. “So I think we just dropped that name, but I don’t think they would ever call it serious Scream 5. I do not think anyone wanted to see the number five after something. You should ask them – Paramount or anyone else, but I think you get the 5 and call it Scream [works] because it is brand new. There is the hereditary cast, and how they infuse this new world and there is a whole new generation and a new cast of characters that are a lot of fun. I think it was a great cast. They are an amazing group of kids and young talents and they are very, very good. They fly off the screen, and now our Sidneys and our mature characters entering it are adults. It works really well. “
In addition to the original three stars, Scream will see his return Scream 4Marley Shelton as Deputy Judy Hicks. Jack Quaid leads an extensive roster of newcomers who will appear in the film alongside Melissa Barrera, Dylan Minnette, Jenna Ortega, Mason Gooding, Kyle Gallner, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Mikey Madison.
New Scream is set to hit theaters on January 14, 2022.
