The first trailer for the Spider-Man sequel: Into The Spider-Verse has been released, showing what the next chapter in Miles Morales’s animated adventure might include – and is a two-part story.
The Sony sequel, which is officially titled Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, will be released on October 7, 2022, which means that it is a little less than a year away. The end of the trailer, however, teases that this movie is just “Part One”, which means that the multi-universe movie will create a sequel that is going to reach 2023.
The rule of three dictates that every successful movie needs a complete trilogy and that the logic is especially true for Spider-Man IP. We’ve seen three movies with Tobey Maguire Spider-Man, as well as three Tom Holland movies (including No Way Home) and another live Spider-Man trilogy in the works and at Marvel.

The trailer only lasts a few minutes, but follows directly the Into The Spider-Verse of the end of 2018, with Spider-Gwen coming out of a gate in Miles’s bedroom.
Miles hastily arranges the most childish toys scattered around the area, complaining that he is down to earth and unable to escape the adventure – all in action of very high octane.
The trailer appears, however, as we watch Miles soar through a portal to another universe, where he is chased by Oscar Isaac’s Miguel O’Hara – also known as Spider-Man 2099, a different sequel to Spidey from the future. .
We saw this (rather muscular) character briefly in the scene at the end of the title from Into The Spider-Verse, conversing with an artificial intelligence expressed by Greta Lee (Russian Doll, The Morning Show). On stage, Miguel is given a “gizmo” that can help him make an “autonomous multi-universe leap”, ostensibly to find and collect more versions of Spider-Man. And that seems to be exactly what he says in the next movie.
Analysis: Sony grip on Spider-Man tightens
2018 was truly the year that Sony left its mark on Spider-Man, with both the acclaimed Spider-Verse movie and the release of Venom – which also had a sequel, Let There Be Carnage, this year. Given the MCU’s supremacy in all things superhero, it’s great to see a few individual parts facing their favorite characters from a different perspective.
We already know some facts beyond what is revealed in the trailer. First, we know that the performance of Jake Johnson (New Girl) in Peter B. Parker from the first film will return, while Issa Rae (Insecure) will recite a remake of Spider-Woman. It will be a big happy Spider-Family.
The bad guy, so far, has been kept secret, although there are many possibilities from across the universe that Sony could draw on. There were rumors about the appearance of The Spot – a villain who has not yet appeared in any Spidey movies, but who has a story of origin that would fit right here.
