Here is a full summary of the movie: Merry (Cook), is a successful dating and influential dating writer living in Boston. But despite her widely shared dating rules, she has not yet found love for herself. Merry is writing a book based on her true experiences with love and inadvertently includes a fictional, perfect fiancée named Dale whose publisher, Sonia (Karen Malina White), believes it to be true.
Merry decides to go home with her best friend Darlene (Amy Groening) to understand how she can come to her publisher clearly before the book is published and her reputation is ruined by a lie. Merry runs fast to Adam (Van Winkle), Darlene’s brother, and they sparkle. They have very different views on what it takes for two people to fall in love, but they soon realize that, despite how incompatible they are on paper, they fall in love with each other.
As Christmas approaches, Merry learns that she can let go of some of her love rules, while Adam realizes that there is enough space in his heart to try again. When she decides to take a chance on her feelings for Adam, Merry also finds the perfect solution for her book.
