The Niagara Falls History Museum will open the 2022 Winter Film Series with a collection of films and presentations focusing on women’s stories.
The series, which takes place every second Thursday from January 13 to March 10, is accompanied by a new exhibition of the same character, “A woman’s job is never done”.
The series will be presented by film critic and writer Joan Knicks.
The films will be screened on the museum big screen at 5810 Ferry St.Films will begin at 6:45 p.m. and will conclude with a brief discussion. Admission is free for museum members and $ 5 for non-members.
The new exhibition of the museum will last from January 29 to November 13. It offers a better understanding of women throughout history, seeking to celebrate their diversity in the workforce and highlight the strengths of women in the community.
The exhibition is a production of the Niagara Falls Museums editorial team, using both the history and contemporary culture of Niagara Falls to tell a story of female empowerment.
Items from the museum collection and the stories of Niagara Falls women will be on display and woven together to achieve this.

“Hidden Figures” (January 27) – Based on a true story, this film follows three African-Americans in the male part of NASA’s US space program that leads to landing on the moon.
“Bombshell” (February 10) – A true story of a sexual harassment scandal at Fox News that ousted media mogul Roger Ailes.
“Hello, My Name is Doris” (February 24) – This film features the charming and eccentric 60-year-old Doris (Sally Field) who fantasizes about a 20-year-old colleague (Max Greenfield).
“Wild” (March 10) – Reese Witherspoon stars in a memoir film about a woman who finds herself hiking solo over a thousand miles on the Pacific Crest Trail.
