Chandan Roy Sanyal: There is nothing wrong with adding a song to make any movie more marketable | Bollywood

by Joe Bourn

Having been in the film business for over a decade now, actor Chandan Roy Sanyal knows what works for a film and what does not. And he admits that adding some masala elements to create a buzz is only part of the process.

Ask the 42-year-old, who has directed a feature film, if he would be entertained if exhibitors or distributors made such demands, he replied: “I do not think this will happen to her, there is no room for adding such things. The story is like this… when the exhibitors see the film, they will understand that it is a comedy and it works completely as it is. That should be fine. “

Speaking of movies in general, however, he says he has seen such last-minute additions make the movie “more marketable.”

In detail, “these movies probably have huge stars, they have an opening or they have songs. Aisa kaafi filmon mein hua hai. The makers add some music or songs, something that will catch the eye. The music gets hot and works for the movie. “

However, Sanyal, who is also co-producing his directorial debut in a feature film, does not feel there is anything wrong with that. Explaining his point of view, he says, “If you can add something and bring the audience to the theaters, it does not matter. Also, making movies is a very expensive business. As a producer and exhibitor you put your money. In the pandemic, cinemas were closed, they lost their money. It’s a very difficult situation, there is no insurance for net insurance. If a distributor thinks he is adding karne se nuksaan nahi hoga, that’s okay. “It’s not good to lose money.”
