Swiggy’s latest Instamart ads are a reference to this ubiquitous childhood experience of the ’90s.
If there’s one thing Swiggy Instamart ads love to do – it’s in the ’90s. If you’re a kid growing up in the ’90s, chances are you’ve seen compiled action-packed versions of martial arts movies like Bruce Lee’s Enter the Dragon and Jackie Chan Police history.
Swiggy’s latest Instamart ads are a reference to this ubiquitous childhood experience of the ’90s. There are references to the daily delivery of vegetables and groceries – something that makes the characters jump in the air and start a battle.
The only difference with these ads is that the hero is the deliverer who wears the typical orange Swiggy shirt – he appears with the necessary groceries to depict a very literal view of the “savior of the day”.
This is not the first time Swiggy’s Instamart service has been mentioned in its 1990s ad. In one of the commercials, we see a woman in a green vest bathing near a waterfall and her green soap accidentally falling into the river. Swiggy’s Instamart deliverer saves the day with an “extraordinary” delivery of soap.
A number of Instamart ads pay tribute to some of India’s most iconic ads in a similar way. These include the 5-star Ramesh Suresh ads, the Colgate main namak hai Kya aapka toothpaste; ads and “Wah Taj!” of Zakir Hussain! ads for Taj Mahal tea.
