This is a very exciting week for the best new movies on the internet. Ever since we started watching these releases closely, we’ve noticed a few weeks that are heavy on blockbusters or documentaries, but few seem as prevalent as this week.
Ahead, there is the return of Sonic the Hedgehog to the cinema, which makes its debut on order and at the same time on Paramount Plus. It’s a fun ride, but it’s not just about any movie. That’s why we’re so excited that the global box office-crusher RRR – the most interesting movie on this list – is finally on Netflix. A worldwide favorite for wild action scenes, including one where a man catches a motorcycle, RRR has skipped the regular Digital Edition we’d been waiting for (and how many items are distributed on this list).
Next, you have an Anthony Hopkins film originally sold as NFT, a very timely documentary about one of Vladimir Putin’s political opponents, and another documentary about a highly controversial musician who died at the age of 20. Oh, and fun – The appearance of YA rom com that was on HBO Max can be seen without the service.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Paramount Plus and Digital Release)
The first Sonic the Hedgehog movie was the kind of pleasant surprise that gamers have been taught not to believe: a really fun cinematic metaphor of a video game. Together with Detective Pikachu, he suggested that change be in progress. The movie Uncharted may have slipped things back a bit, but Sonic the Hedgehog 2 reminded us why the fast and sneaky blue hedgehog is the king of this particular movie genre.
That said, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is a team effort thanks to the introductions of his friend Tails (voiced by Colleen O’Shaughnessey) and the frantic Knuckles (Idris Elba). The first adds a little more heart to the film, while the second? Imagine what would happen if Idris Elba (and not Dave Bautista) took on the role of Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy. Elba makes the competitive echidna work well on the big screen with great line readings for the faint character who becomes a pawn in Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carey) revenge plan.
Carrey, as he did last time, steals every scene he gets the chance, which makes sense as the film is about Robotnik trying to steal the Chaos Emeralds. As someone who paid to see Sonic 2 in theaters, I recommend it for fun time, provided your expectations are set for playful entertainment.

Moonshot
This former HBO Max franchise is a romantic YA company that sends Walt (Cole Sprouse of Riverdale) together when he falls in love with Sophie (Lana Condor of To All The Boys). Or maybe Walt still doesn’t know he’s digging up Sophie. What he does know is that he’s apparently the wrong guy to chase to Mars. Sophie, in the middle of the long-distance relationship on this side of the multiverse, seems to be making fun of him.
After being found secretly on the ship to Mars, Walt tells Sophie that a visit to the red planet was his lifelong dream. Or at least that is his excuse until he finds the strength to be honest and advance. On board, Walt meets Leon (Jacques Braff), who may be just the advice he needs to sort out his feelings before Sophie and her boyfriend meet on Mars.

RRR (Netflix)
It’s time for Rise, Roar, and Revolt – as one of the biggest movies of the year (grossing over $ 150 million worldwide) is finally streaming. But Netflix did not fully prepare people for it, as the film sneaked into the radar last Friday.
But ever since we found out that the Indian movie RRR was on Netflix, we’ve been excited to air it (but also a little confused, more on that below). Set in 1920s India, RRR is an epic justice story centered around a pair of popular heroes in India: Alluri Sitarama Raju (Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (NT Rama Rao Jr.). Watch the trailer if you have not already heard it and see a dude catching a motorcycle. Director SS Rajamouli refers to the film as a story of a “fantastic friendship between two superheroes”.
RRR’s release on Netflix comes with a small asterisk, praising action scenes that think American action movies need to go up. This is the Hindi translation of the film, as Netflix decided not to use the Telugu motherboard. This may be because the Indian streaming service ZEE5 has the rights to Telugu, but there does not seem to be a good reason why the Telugu version cannot be shared.

All over the world, five people have said that it is part of the path to save humanity. Everyone did not know each other until now, and they are told that they must work on something called a “reactivation plan” to save humanity.
All five of these individuals were selected because they were fans of Finley Hart (Anthony Hopkins), who has since died but speaks to these people through seemingly pre-recorded messages. Hart’s death is his own mystery, as he claims to have died because of this plan. Surprisingly, Zero Contact was released as NFT on the Vuele platform. But, fortunately, you can just buy it or rent it online now.

Navalny (HBO Max)
Challenging an established politician should not endanger your life, but Alexey Navalny has challenged one of the most dangerous political leaders: Vladimir Putin of Russia. The documentary shows both his rise and his hospitalization when he is poisoned with the nerve agent Novichok.
Directed by Daniel Roer, Navalny gives his protagonist the opportunity to say “right?” and an opportunity to ask why he was poisoned. HBO Max is coming up to fill some of the gap left behind by CNN Plus, as this movie debuted on CNN (and would easily fit into the streaming service that has since left).

Look at: XXXTentacion (Hulu)
Fame and youth seldom mix well, as was the tragic story of Jahseh Onfroy, better known as rapper XXXTENTACION (pronounced XXX-ten-ta-cion). Look at me: XXXTENTACION is a combination of unprecedented archival footage and interviews with his family, friends and romantic companions, all trying to analyze the dark stories that are inseparable from Onfroy’s fame.
Numerous disturbing incidents are flooding Infroy’s story, including the stabbing of his manager and an arrest for aggravated battery charges of a pregnant woman (with other charges including witness forgery). This documentary seems to show both Onfroy’s popularity and the question of why they did not stop him from getting out of control before he was shot in a robbery and died at the age of 20.

We feed people (Disney Plus)
Need a good story with a funny man at the center? Of course. And director Ron Howard brings one with We Feed People, a National Geographic documentary about beloved chef José Andrés and the World Central Kitchen initiative.
Andrés (whose voice is so charming that an audiobook should be released) sees food as a way to change lives. And in the 12 years that the World Central Cuisine has been active, it has transferred it from a small project to a valuable humanitarian aviation organization that does invaluable work during disasters.
