My ass, my lover and I. is the latest independent film to have been widely acclaimed by critics, having received an excellent rating through Rotten Tomatoes based on 15 reviews so far.
The film has been described as “a French comedy road movie” and follows Antoinette (Laure Calamy) elementary school teacher, who is excited about her upcoming vacation with her married boyfriend, Vladimir (Benjamin Lavernhe), but their plans upset when his wife is booking a surprise hiking trip.
The official plot says: “With impulse, Antoinette heads to the same mountainous area of Cévennes National Park, with a route inspired by the classic memoirs of Robert Louis Stevenson of 1878. He travels with a donkey to Cévennes. “

My ass, my lover and I. will open in New York on June 17, 2022 at the Angelika Film Center, before heading to Los Angeles on June 24, 2022. However, we do not know how large the film will be.
So far, reviews for My ass, my lover and I. was extremely positive, with many praises for the protagonist Laure Calamy who won the César Award for her performance, which is considered the highest cinematic distinction in France.
The Guardian review notes: “Calamy really grounded the film with her funny, generous performance.” and Fantasy machine he adds: “This is not a movie that inspires belly laughter, but it is a movie that inspires steady, pleasant smiles. It’s great material – modest but perfectly shaped.”
