Billy Bob Thornton added another project to his to-do list on Tuesday. He will star Role gamea new thriller co-starring The flight attendantKaley Cuoco and David Oyelowo. Coincidentally, both Thornton and Oyelowo work separately on projects with Yellowstone co-creator Taylor Sheridan.
The new film will be directed by Thomas Vincent (Occupations) and focuses on a married couple whose life breaks down when they learn about each other’s past. Cuoco and Oyelowo will play the married couple. Thornton’s role in the play is unknown, but sources said Deadline will play an important role as a mysterious stranger meeting the stars. Seth Owen (All night) wrote the screenplay, which has some contributions from Andrew Baldwin (Invasion).
Picture Company Alex Heineman and Andrew Rona are producing with funding from Studiocanal. Picture Company has a streaming deal with Amazon Prime Video, which will be the home of Role Play. Cuoco is also a producer on the Yes Norman Productions banner. Brillstein Gray’s George Heller is an executive producer.
Thornton has worked with Cuoco in the past. Back in 2014, the Oscar winner made an appearance The theory of the Big Bang as Dr. Oliver Lorvis, a urologist trying to attract Cuoco Penny. CBS and Big explosionIts producers managed to keep Thornton’s appearance on the show a complete surprise for home fans. Big explosion said showrunner Steve Molaro Entertainment Weekly arrived in Thornton after hearing that he was a big fan of the comedy series. Molaro said Cuoco and Thornton bonded by sharing stories of the late John Ritter. Cuoco starred with Ritter 8 simple rules, while Thornton and Ritter were close friends. Thornton throws Ritter Sling Bladethe film that won Thornton the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay.
Thornton also has a connection to Oyelowo. They both work with Sheridan. After the guest role of Thornton in 1883Sheridan threw him inside Land Man, a Paramount + series for the oil boom in West Texas. The shooting of the series is expected to begin this fall. Oyelowo stars in Sheridan’s 1883: The Bass Reeves Storya limited series about the truly legendary legislator who was the first Black US Deputy Marshal west of the Mississippi River.
Thornton recently completed work on Prime Video’s Goliath. His next film is The Gray Mana Netflix blockbuster starring Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans coming out on streamer on July 22nd. Thornton won an Emmy nomination for his gruesome portrayal of Loren Malvo’s killer in Fargo Season 1.
