Steve Carell Confirms Reuniting With ‘The Office’ Co-Star John Krasinski In New Imaginary Friends Movie

Steve Carell is currently busy promoting Minions: The Rise of Gruwhich sees him voicing Gru for the first time since 2017 The despicable me 3. The animated film isn’t the only thing Carell fans have to look forward to. The actor will soon be reunited with his The office co-star, John Krasinski, in Fantastic friends. In 2019, it was announced that Ryan Reynolds and John Krasinski would team up for the upcoming comedy. Krasinski is set to write, direct and star in the film alongside Reynolds and others. During a recent conversation with ET Online, Carell talked about the upcoming reunion.

“Well, I haven’t started working on the movie with him yet, but I’m looking forward to it,” Carell shared. “I just expect joy and fun. I mean, he’s the best and he’s a great director.” Carrell joked, “I’m going to put him through his paces, you know? I’m going to make him work for it. I might be one of those dangerous actors who doesn’t always agree or won’t come out of my trailer. . . . You think you’re hired some friend, but you were wrong!”

In addition to Reynolds, Krasinski and Carell, it was announced in October that There is no time to die co-author and Fleabag Lead actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge joins the cast. Fiona Shaw, n Harry Potter alum who recently partnered with Waller-Bridge Killing Eveit will be in the movie too.

Concerning Minions: The Rise of Gruthe new film marks the fifth feature-length installment in the smash hit Despicable Me privilege. So far, it has a respectable “fresh” rating of 69%. Rotten tomatoes, which isn’t enough to be “Certified Fresh”, but it’s not bad. It lags behind the first two installments of the franchise, which earned 81% and 75% positive reviews, respectively. Currently, Minions: The Rise of Gru has an impressive audience rating of 91%. In addition to Carell, the film features the voice talents of Taraji P. Henson, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Lucy Lawless, Dolph Lundgren, Danny Trejo, Russell Brand, Michelle Yeoh and Julie Andrews.

Minions: The Rise of Gru hits theaters July 1st. Fantastic friends no release date yet.
