Janhvi Kapoor in a new interview she addressed the inevitable comparisons that will be made between her and actor Nayanthara after her next release Good Luck Jerry. Janhvi’s upcoming film is a remake of the 2018 Tamil film Kolamaavu Kokila, starring Nayanthara.
Janhvi told RJ Siddharth Kannan that she should have realized the seriousness of the situation earlier, but she recognizes it now. She said that she has been compared to others since the beginning of her career, including her mother, the late actor Sridevi, so she is no longer bothered by the comparisons.
He said, “That should have been something that was playing on my mind earlier, but it wasn’t. But now that you mention it, I should have thought of it sooner. But honestly, the pressure of comparisons and expectations has been chasing me since the beginning of my career. My first film was also a remake. And also, I get compared to my mom, who was, I think, the greatest actress of all time. So I’m a little bit immune to the comparison thing.”
He added, “Our film is very different (from the original). Jerry’s character is nothing like Nayanthara’s character. Firstly, our film is set in north India. I play a Bihari girl in Punjab. So her personality, the way she talks, the characterization, everything is different.”
Good luck Jerryco-produced by Aanand L Rai and the original film’s producer Subaskaran Allirajah, will be released on Disney+ Hotstar on July 29. The marketing has completely downplayed the remake angle, highlighting the rustic setting and Janhvi’s performance.
