August 11 is going to be a big day for Bollywood lovers. Aamir Khan‘small Laal Singh Chadha and Akshay Kumar‘small Raksha Bandan they are going to be released on the same day. Two big movies are clashing at the box office and they are all in the collections. As Bollywood films are struggling to maintain a good run at the box office in the post-pandemic era with few films, Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan are expected to bring audiences back to the theatres. But who takes the lead between the two?

If the latest advance booking reports of the films are anything to go by, Aamir Khan seems to be taking the lead here. According to a report in Box Office India, the advance bookings of Aamir Khan’s film have garnered a good response. Thus, it is expected that the film will fetch around 8 crore in advance bookings. On the other hand, the Akshay Kumar starrer might witness half of what Aamir Khan’s film will cut through the advance bookings. The Raksha Bandhan starrer is expected to reach Rs 3 crore. Even though the film is releasing on Raksha Bandhan day, the buzz for Aamir Khan’s film seems to be higher.

The box office performance of both the films will be interesting as there have been negative offers around it as well. Ahead of the big release, #BoycottLaalSinghChaddha and #BoycottRakshaBandhan have been trending on social media. Many netizens have called for a boycott of them for various reasons. Aamir Khan suffered the wrath of netizens for his old comments on intolerance, while Akshay Kumar was in the crosshairs after author Kanika Dhillon’s old tweets were called “Hinduphobic”.
