Bat girl Fans have been thrown into a frenzy over the past two weeks as it was announced that Warner Bros. would be abandoning Leslie Grace’s solo project altogether. Despite being fully shot and deep into post-production, the studio thought it best to cut its losses and move in the new direction it deemed best suited.
Unfortunately, this means the film will never see the light of day. Ever since Warner Bros. used Bat girlCanceling the film as a tax write-off, the film can legally never be released to the public — or monetized in any way. The only way the public will ever see it is if it was illegally leaked online.
It’s an awful situation for everyone involved, especially Leslie Grace, who was so excited to wear that cape and hat. But with all that said, what if there was a chance he might return to the role in a future DC project?
Trying to mend Leslie Grace’s fences
According to a new report from Varietyit appears that while Warner Bros. cut ties with Bat girlLeslie Grace may still be able to return to the fold.
It has been reported that the new heads of Warner Bros. Pictures Group, Michael De Luca and Pam Adby are both hoping to heal their relationships with actress Leslie Grace following the abrupt cancellation of her solo project. They are “entertaining the possibility of her continuing to play Batgirl in a future DC film” or, failing that, at least star in another WB production.
The final choice will ultimately come down to whoever CEO David Zaslav chooses to be in charge of the DC branch.
But Warner Bros. would he get the favor again?
It makes perfect sense for Warner Bros. to consider bringing back Leslie Grace for the role in another project. After all, it was this film that was canceled and not her role as Barbara Gordan.
That said, given Batgirl’s unprecedented sacrifice, it would be completely understandable if Leslie Grace had no desire to work with Warner Bros. again. After all, if they can just completely scrap a project at such a late stage, nothing is safe.
In fact, it wouldn’t be surprising if the studio started to struggle to find talent willing to work for them.
But, on the off chance that Grace wants to return, where could she appear? Well, that’s hard to guess for sure since nothing has been through The lightning it sure seems — even Ezra Miller’s solo work isn’t safe (thanks to him).
Maybe DC can get a bat family movie off the ground. Bring Michael Keaton back as Bruce, then explore everyone he’s trained over the years—Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, Robin, and more. There’s a lot to explore there and a lot of characters for people to fall in love with.
Black Adam is the next DCEU movie to hit theaters and will be released on October 21st later this year.
