One Piece Film: Red’s official Twitter handle shared the film’s box office milestone. The tweet revealed that the anime film had crossed 9 billion yen at the Japanese box office. The film is now on its way to a 10 billion yen milestone.
Debuting on its opening weekend, the anime film managed to take the top spot at the box office. The film grossed 2.25 billion yen in just two days, with 1.58 million tickets sold. The legend of the Straw Hat seems to be accumulating new oceanic treasures at the box office.

One Piece Film: Red beat Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween and Studio Ghibli’s Arrietty at the Japanese box office. Luffy and the Pirate Crew maintains its position as the 53rd highest-grossing film in Japan. The film also managed to become the 12th highest-grossing anime film in the region, confirming the popularity of the Straw Hat legend.
The 15th One Piece film is also the most successful of the films in the franchise. The anime film has surpassed the highest-grossing anime film, 2012’s One Piece Film: Z. Given the film’s new milestone, One Piece Film: Red appears to be breaking records at the Japanese box office.
