A new LCD Soundsystem song will be included in Noah Baumbach’s upcoming Netflix film White noise, Variety reports, and a rep for the band confirmed to Pitchfork. Titled “New Body Rhumba,” the track marks the band’s first new original recording since their 2017 comeback album American Dream. “New Body Rhumba” will be officially released as a single later in 2022.
White noise, Noah Baumbach’s upcoming adaptation of the 1985 Don DeLillo novel of the same name, starring Adam Driver, Greta Gerwig, Don Cheadle and Jodie Turner-Smith and also featuring André 3000 as a cast member. It will premiere at the Venice Film Festival and arrive on Netflix “soon,” according to a press release.
American Dream is the fourth studio album by LCD Soundsystem and followed the climax of their breakup in 2011. James Murphy and co. had originally bid farewell with a show in New York, which was later documented on the 5xLP boxset, The Long Goodbye: LCD Soundsystem Live at Madison Square Garden.
LCD Soundsystem played a series of shows in Brooklyn last year. And, earlier in 2022, the group had additional residences in Boston, Philadelphia, Oakland and San Francisco. Back in March, Murphy shared an update on the band and hinted that new music could be on the way.
