Progress to a proposed Tron The movie starring Jared Leto has been a bumpy road. The most recent updates have surrounded a project called Tron: Mars, which would see Jared Leto take the lead role in the next chapter. After a few starts and stops, it looks like The Grid is finally starting up again, and Disney has tapped a veteran director from their stable to bring this next level of one of the best SCI-FI movies in life.
New information just arrived from Deadline as his third film Tron Legacy is apparently set to begin filming in Vancouver this August. In addition, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil Director Joachim Rønning is in talks to direct the film, a new development what we know Tron 3.
Previously, lion Director Garth Davis co-directed Tron: Mars; which seems to have changed since the last updates mentioned. Also, we now seem to have a possible title for the film after life begins as an alleged leak from Jared Leto. However, until Disney confirms this information, it’s probably best to hold off on creating banners.
Even more tantalizing is the detail mentioned in the report above Tron: Mars supposed to be a 2010 sequel Tron: Legacy. With early details stating that the Jared Leto’s movie would be a reboot, we may still see threads from the past being tied into this new Disney project. Hopefully someone contacted Cillian Murphy’s agent about his return as Edward Dillinger Jr., fulfilling perhaps the most promising tease left unfulfilled in the wake of this fan favorite.
Release date for Tron: Mars currently unannounced, with a supposed August production start also waiting to be confirmed.
