Rajkumar Santoshi’s upcoming drama Gandhi Godse – Ek Yudh has created audience interest for its theme of the fictional encounter between MK Gandhi and his assassin Nathuram Godse, played by Deepak Antani and Chinmay Mandlekar respectively.

According to a latest update from the makers, it is debutant actress Tanisha Santoshi’s character who plays a big role in bringing Gandhi and Gonse together in the film. She happens to be Rajkumar Santoshi’s daughter.

Talking about her debut, Tanisha said in a statement, “Being a part of a unique film that has some of the best technicians working on the film is a dream come true for me. There were so many things I learned over (the) period of time, and even working with such experienced actors was an enriching experience for me as an artist.”

Unsurprisingly, Tanisha has a lot to say about her father’s direction. “Coming to the captain of the ship, director Rajkumar Santoshi, from watching him direct some of the biggest stars to directing me was such a surreal moment in my life,” he added. “I’ll never forget the first day of shooting when he yelled ‘action’. He is the best director for any actor, because he plays every scene for the artist and knows exactly what he wants. He is a perfectionist and always gets the best out of the actor. I feel blessed to have worked with him in my very first film. He’s a whole cinematic institution in himself and the learning with him is endless.”

Gandhi Godse – Ek Yudh is released on India’s Republic Day on January 26.
