Speaking to us about her first time bagging a biopic, Amruta says, “We intend to highlight the trials and tribulations of Lalita Babar. Not many know about the difficult situations that athletes go through. I also feel that many sports biopics in Bollywood have done well and it is time to explore this genre in Marathi cinema as well.”
Although the project has been announced, the film’s director and screenwriter are yet to be finalized. Amruta points out that while work on the project had begun last year, it took them a year to announce it. He adds, “I had met Lalita tai a few years back, and even attended her wedding in 2018. It is an inspiring story that should reach every nook and corner of Maharashtra. We are sure to get the right people soon.” »
The actress started her preparation for her role around six months ago and has been working hard to get an athletic physique. “When Lalita played tai, she weighed around 45 kg. Right now, I weigh around 52 kg, but I am sure I will reach the target (45 kg) in the next two months,” says actress Chandramukhi, adding that she is now aiming to do performance-oriented roles. “I’m open to playing fun roles, but mostly I’m looking at strong roles. And I’m fine with spending as much time as necessary to entertain my characters.”
