The Bollywood film, which marks Shah Rukh’s first big screen release as the lead in four years, has crossed the Rs 600 crore mark at the global collection.
Meanwhile, several opposition leaders criticized the Center calling the budget “anti-people and anti-poor”.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said the budget had no “vision” for job creation and no plan to deal with rising prices.
“The Mitr Kaal budget has: NO vision for job creation NO plan to tackle Mehngai NO intention to curb inequality. To care!” the Congress leader said in a tweet
“This budget proves that the government has NO road map to build India’s future,” he added.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier today said that the first budget in India’s ‘amrit kaal’ has laid a strong foundation for fulfilling the aspirations and resolutions of a developed India. He said that this budget prioritizes the needy and strives to fulfill the dreams of the aspirational society, the poor, the villages and the middle class.
The Prime Minister further said that the middle class is a great force for fulfilling the dreams of a prosperous and developed India and our government has taken many decisions to empower it. He said the budget will fulfill the dreams of aspiring society, farmers and middle class.
Earlier today, Sitharaman announced that there is no tax for those with an annual income of up to Rs 7 lakh in the new tax regime, but made no changes for those continuing in the old regime.
