Atlas Launches New Sirius 1.0X Anamorphic Cinema Lenses – YMCinema

Atlas announces the release of Sirius Series 1.0x anamorphic cinema lenses. The Sirius series lenses feature a compression ratio of 1.0x vs eliminating the “distracting and overused streak flares” commonly associated with most anamorphic lenses. The lenses incorporate an exclusive anamorphic symmetrical system technology (ASST) ideal for IMAX shooting. All the details are below.

Atlas states that the introduction of the Sirius series is a significant addition to the Atlas Lens Co. anamorphic cinema lens catalog. from the debut of Mercury Series 1.5x full-frame anamorphic lenses in 2022, Orion Series 2x anamorphic lenses in 2017 and Orion 21mm and the world’s widest front anamorphic cine lens in production. “The addition of the Sirius Series to the Atlas line of anamorphic lenses will offer more image makers new and distinctive 1.0x Anamorphic options for their cinematographic toolkit,” adds Atlas, “We’ve always thought highly of anamorphic lenses. more than the way anamorphic looks. Sure, we all love the stretched cinematic look, horizontal flare, and unique bokeh shape… but what if we got rid of all that?” Then Nanomorphic (X1 factor) was invented, removing two elements from the Orions.

Called 1.0x Anamorphic Symmetrical System Technology (ASST), this technology offers corresponding horizontal and vertical viewing angles for any given focal length. ASST helps you deliver the technical aspect ratio that filmmakers demand.

We’ve always thought of anamorphic lenses as much more than the way anamorphic looks. Sure, we all love the stretched cinematic look, horizontal flare, and unique bokeh shape… but what if we got rid of all that?

In addition to the ease of supporting manual aspect ratios defined by cinematographers and directors as desired, the Sirius Series 1.0x anamorphic optical design enables many of the optical features that image makers love about traditional spherical lenses (round bokeh, reduced distortion , shallow depth of field) while keeping the size and weight similar to the Orion series anamorphic lenses. This results in the ideal balance of size, weight, visual performance and professional usability across a variety of producers.

According to Atlas, the Sirius series features exceptional optical performance with the character, color and clarity of an anamorphic lens, while embracing the personality of vintage spherical lenses: Pleasant distortion, beautiful round bokeh and dynamic spherical aberration with the added benefits of zero mumps, excellent close focus, none of the distracting flares.

Pricing: The Sirius series will be priced at an MSRP of $5,995 for a single lens and $17,985 for a 3-lens set.
