Sources have confirmed that Disney has cast newcomer Maia Kealoha to star as Lilo in the upcoming live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch.
As reported by Knight Edge Media and THR, Kealoha will join a cast that also includes Zach Galifianakis, whose role has yet to be officially revealed.
Kealoha doesn’t have any major acting credits to her name so far, but she has competed in several Little Miss Kona Coffee pageants and you can see her in one below.
Not much else is known about the Lilo & Stitch remake, which will bring the 2002 animated classic to life in a new way, but we do know that Marcel the Shell With Shoes On’s Dean Fleischer Camp will direct the film, which was previously rumored to premiere on Disney+ .
Filming on the live-action version of Lilo & Stitch was originally scheduled to begin in 2020, but delays pushed it back.
While it may be a while before we see Kealoha in Lilo & Stitch, fans won’t have to wait long to see two of Disney’s live-action projects, as Peter Pan & Wendy will fly to Disney+ on April 28 and The Little Mermaid will swim into theaters on May 26.
