May 1 marks the start of Asian Heritage Month, a time to celebrate the contributions and achievements of people of Asian descent.
In honor of the Asian influence on Hollywood and social culture, ET Canada shines the spotlight on five new series and movies launching this month.
‘Acropolis’
The much-anticipated action espionage thriller Citadel, starring duo Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, marks the first of its kind in the franchise for the global spy agency, Citadel, to drop.
The summary, approx IMDb, states: “Her agents’ memories are gone. Now the powerful syndicate, Manticore, is rising into the void. Can Citadel agents remember their past and summon the power to fight back?’
Although “Citadel” premiered on April 28, new episodes of the groundbreaking spy series will be released weekly through May 26 on Prime Video.
“Xo, Kitty”
The spin-off “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before”. centers to Kittythe youngest of the Covey sisters, played by Anna Cathcart, who is back with a new adventure – this time her own – in the upcoming Netflix series.
Viewers will watch Kitty embark on a journey to connect with her past (her mother’s legacy) and her future (her boyfriend Dae), as she explores her identity and makes the most of it along the way.
“Xo, Kitty” streams on Netflix starting May 18.
This television comedy special, performed by Zarna Garg, will see the Indian-American comedian take the comedy world by storm with her first stand-up streaming special ‘One in a Billion’.
“As an unapologetic Indian-immigrant mom, she has a lot to joke about and the lines come fast and furious,” according to the official synopsis.
‘Zarna Garg: One in a Billion’ premieres on May 16 on Prime Video.
“A Chinese born in America”
A mythological world evokes Disney+’s most anticipated new series, “American Born Chinese,” starring Oscar-winner “Everything Everywhere All at Once” starring Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan.
Adapted from the acclaimed graphic novel by Gene Louen Young, the action-wholesome comedy series “chronicles the trials and tribulations of an ordinary American teenager whose life is forever changed when he befriends the son of a mythological god,” its synopsis notes. series. “This is the story of a young man’s fight for his own identity, told through family, comedy and action-packed Kung-Fu.”
Furthermore, a host of guest stars will portray the iconic Chinese mythical characters featured in the show.

‘love again’
Priyanka Chopra Jonas makes her first film release since “The Matrix Resurrections” with this upcoming romantic comedy, which also stars Sam Heughan and Celine Dion.
“Love Again” focuses on a grieving lady named Mira (Chopra), who, by sheer mistake, strikes up a remarkable relationship with a man named Rob (Heughan) after texting her deceased fiancé’s number. The intensity of her texts moves him and he later enlists Dion’s help to meet Mira in person. Chopra’s husband, singer Nick Jonas, too makes a brief appearance.
“Love Again” hits theaters on May 5.
