The actress had to shed 20 kilos for this film which she had previously gained for a character in her last show ‘Salt City’. Talking about the challenge of losing weight for the role, she says, “It’s a very interesting part and everyone will love her. I had to lose all those pounds I gained for my role in Salt City. As for my last show, I had gained 20 kilos for the character and from the moment I got this role it was a tough challenge to lose all those kilos.”
He continues, “Indeed, even they told me that they shortlisted me because I’m a good actor, but to fit the role I have to lose weight. I took it as a challenge and told them that if you trust me enough, I won’t let you down! Finally, I lost 20 kg in 3 to 6 months. We shot the entire film during a lockdown and it was a crazy ride shooting in Delhi, Spain and Mauritius. Honestly, for me it was more than just preparation or losing weight, just being with this team for such a long time has been a learning experience.”
Talking about how she was roped into this film, she says, “I met casting director Vicky Sidana in 2019 and she praised my work in Apharan. Later, I went on to audition for him and other people. Then in lockdown she asked me self check and after many rounds of testing she asked me to come meet someone.I went for the meeting in the most casual clothes I have ever worn and met Luv Ranjan sir there.Vicky was really looking at me with so much disappointment that I really came for a movie meeting or something like that (laughs). But then, Luv, sir was very sweet and we talked for an hour about a lot of things. After that we did a final test and finally I was locked in.”
Monica is feeling excited to make her big debut in Bollywood. He states, “I only feel gratitude and I feel like I have a long way to go. I’m shooting for my next and things are already starting to show the results of all my efforts. Good things are coming my way and I’m letting it sink in.” I feel thankful and grateful every day. I feel there is so much to learn. This film being my debut in Bollywood is a very big thing for me. It will always be special as it is my first film,” she signs off.
