Adam Sandler is causing quite a stir in the Royal City, with several people in Guelph, Ont., seeing the funnyman over the weekend.
The movie star is in the area for a few days filming and producing his newest Netflix project You’re SO Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah!
The staff at Milestones Restaurant in Guelph was impressed when Sandler came in to eat Sunday night.
“She [a Milestone’s worker] he came running back, red-faced and shaking, he just looked at me and said, ‘Don’t freak out, Adam Sandler’s here, Adam Sandler’s here, nobody’s saying anything, just get on with it,'” Brad said Clarke, director at Milestones Guelph. “I was like, ‘OK, let me see if this is real.’
Clarke is among several business owners and locals who said Sandler was a joy to meet and one of the nicest celebrities they’ve ever met.
“It changed life. She was honestly one of the nicest celebrities I’ve ever met, let alone a regular person,” said Grace Van Hemmen, Milestones Guelph Server.
Restaurant staff said they tried to treat Sandler like any other customer, except when they tried to take a selfie.
“He was just an absolutely beautiful gentleman,” Clark said.
“Thank you so much Adam for choosing us and I’m glad he enjoyed his meals here too,” said Clarke.
The staff said they are over the moon to have dined in their restaurant on Sunday night and were even happier that they decided to return for dinner the next night.
Others made their way to Elora, Ont., where some waited for hours to catch a glimpse of Sadler heading toward the landmark.
One fan told CTV News, “I never thought it would be in Guelph, let alone 30 minutes from here.”
Another fan said he was downtown near city hall when a large black SUV window rolled down and Sandler was inside and asked him where the best steakhouse in town was.
After waiting two hours to meet the actor, Guelph resident Brandon Bott got the chance to interact with Sandler.
“I saw him go by in a go-kart, which was pretty cool, and it was awesome because he came back just to say hi to us all,” Bott said. “It had to be really quick obviously, but he’s just such a friendly guy and because he didn’t have to do that, it’s just awesome that he was willing to come over and say hi to all the fans.”
