Adipurush is educational for children, we hope it responds: Kriti Sanon

Bollywood star Kriti Sanon says she is “extremely proud”. Adipurushthe adaptation of the Ramayana to the big screen.

Starring Baahubali star Prabhas, who appears in the title role as Lord Ram, the multilingual period epic sees Saif Ali Khan in the role of Lakesh and Sanon as Sita.

“It’s a film that the whole team is extremely proud of. I hope and pray that people will be proud of it too. It is something that is so important to all of us. It’s just not a movie for us, it’s more than that. I hope he gets his due. I have a feeling it will,” Shannon said.

There was some controversy surrounding Ravana’s portrayal in the film after the makers released the teaser last October. The film was earlier scheduled to hit theaters on January 12, but the release date has now been pushed to June 16.

Directed by Om Raut and produced by T-Series headed by Bhushan Kumar.

The Mimi star, who didn’t get to see Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana while growing up, hopes the film appeals to the younger generation.

“It’s important to do these stories. It is educational for children. I feel like if I hadn’t seen it then, kids today wouldn’t have either,” he said.

“I feel that visual memory is much stronger than anything else. The best way for children to know (this) story is to have it imprinted in their minds, it is important to watch it. If you’re releasing it now after all these years, the same story should also be relatable to the target audience.”

Next up for Sanon is action drama Shehzada opposite Kartik Aaryan. The film is a remake of a 2020 Telugu blockbuster Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, which featured Allu Arjun and Pooja Hegde.

The Hindi film, directed by Rohit Dhawan, will hit the theaters on February 17. She will be reuniting with her Heropanti co-star Tiger Shroff for a futuristic action film Ganapath. The Vikas Bahl directorial will hit theaters this year.

Sanon is also excited to collaborate Shahid Kapoor for a film, to be backed by Maddock Films and working with experienced like Kareena Kapoor Khan and Tabu in The Crew.
