Shah Rukh KhanPathaan’s latest outing is breaking records at the box office and director Siddharth Anand is feeling overwhelmed. The film marked Shah Rukh’s return to the big screen after four years and gave the biggest opening day for a Hindi film ever. Reflecting on the film’s reception, Siddharth said that the film has made history for him. In a new statement, the director Siddharth Anand he said, “The story of the script. Everyone wants it, but no one can plan it. It just happens. And when it does, it’s actually a very humbling experience. I feel incredibly overwhelmed right now and it inspires me to get back on set and try to create something really special for the audience again. This is my state of mind.”
“I’m more hungry than ever to create more spectacles and immersive experiences like Pathan. For me, yes, numbers matter. It’s a validation of all the hard work, but filmmaking is also a team game. So, I share this incredible moment with the entire cast and crew of Pathaan. Each one of us believed in a vision of creating a never-before-seen theater experience that cuts across the length and breadth of the country and I’m glad we delivered on that promise,” he added.
Siddharth argued how he believes that films have no language. He called cinema an emotion and also said, “If it connects with people, it can really reach dizzying heights and that’s the case with Pathaan. Today is a victory of Indian cinema because first we are all Indians. It is such an exciting phase for our country that films from all over India are making records, breaking records and most importantly entertaining the people of our country worldwide.”
Pathaan stars Shah Rukh with Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. It also has a special cameo by Salman Khan, which has become the highlight of the action film. The Siddharth Anand starrer, which is backed by Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films, opened at ₹106 crore worldwide on its first day on January 25. The Hindi version of Pathaan earned approx ₹70 crore on its second day, on the occasion of Republic Day.
After the success of Pathaan, Shah Rukh shared poetic lines on Twitter. He wrote, “Gattaca movie ‘I never saved anything for the swim back’ I guess life is like that….You’re not meant to plan your way back… You’re meant to move on. Don’t go back…try to finish what you started. Advice from only 57-year-olds.”
