Last year, Alejandro Jodorowsky took to social media to talk about a potential new project he was working on.
Today at Instagram confirmed that he is preparing a new film titled “Viaje Essential” or “Essential Voyage”, in English.
Jodorowsky published a book of poems of the same title. Maybe it will be an anthology film? Hopefully it will go into production sometime this year, having just turned 94.
The fact is that Jodorowsky’s latest films are not necessarily diminished in quality. His latest was 2016’s Endless Poetry, and he managed to release an ultra-low-budget documentary before the pandemic.
We’re not entirely sure what “Essential Voyage” will be, it could be the third part of a trilogy that started with “The Dance of Reality” and “Endless Poetry.” What we do know is that Jodorowsky seems to be in good health and ready to make this new film.
Jodorowsky is the surrealist Chilean writer behind at least two 1970s masterpieces: “El Topo” and “The Holy Mountain.”
He also unsuccessfully tried to adapt Herbert’s The Dune in the mid-70s, an abandoned work that not only became legendary, but resulted in an incredible 2013 doc called Jodorowsky’s Dune.
