YouTuber Lilly Singh recently took to Instagram to share an elaborate post after watching Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh starrer Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. In her post, she explained why she loved the film and how she feels it beautifully tackles social issues like “sexism, body positivity, gender norms, and homophobia.” Moreover, he also added that the film is “fun as hell”. Her post quickly caught the attention of many, including the film’s lead actors Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh. They also shared their reactions to her post.
“Last night after about 15 years I watched a Bollywood movie in the theatre: Rocky aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani,” he wrote. In the following lines she added that although she has always liked Bollywood films, she knows how some of the films can be “extremely sexist and patriarchal”. She then went on to write more about her “bittersweet” relationship with Hindi films. Talking about Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani explained how he felt some of these prevailing issues of Bollywood were “solved” in the film.
“Progress is not perfect. Besides, poor Rani still had to swing a sari in the snow (a part of the glass ceiling that just doesn’t break). But this movie was a major win for me and I can’t recommend it enough,” she added as the final line of her post. In addition, she also posted some photos of her dressed in pink.
