Actors Angad Bedi and Kirti Kulhari garner praise for their latest release, The list. The movie was released on Amazon miniTV. While audiences are showing love for the film, Angad Bedi and Kirti Kulhari talked about what it takes to portray a robot on screen.
Angad Bedi Talks About His Character In Short Film Starring Kirti Kulhari: ‘Behaving Like A Robot Wasn’t Easy For Me’
“This was a different experience, there were times when Gaurav Dave (the director) would tell us thoda aur dead dikho, thoda aur emotion kam karo, abhi bhi kuch lag raha hai, ussko bhi hata do. So we were going in the opposite direction. This challenge was really something I liked because it was different from the usual ‘yeh emotion chahiye, woh emotion chahiye’.
The Four More Shots Please actress said: “In my mind, I just kept pushing and trying to get it right because it matters to me. Baaki toh kaafi majja aaya yaar, kuch dialogues nahi hai, bas chehre se emote karna hai.. It was a big change.”
“Behaving like a robot for me is not easy. Imagine on camera, the director telling you this is how you have to be for 18 minutes. It’s the hardest thing you can do, and then you have to project certain emotions while acting completely robotic. There’s a very fine line you have to walk for such a multi-layered character.”
Talking about his experience of portraying a character in this film, Angad said, “I think because this role was so new to me, it became more difficult because I am a very energetic person and to have such stoic expressions is a task that I thought was out of my league. Of course, working with Kirti and attending workshops for 5 days helped me a lot. I honestly didn’t think I could pull off that character.”
Continuing further, he added, “Every actor has certain strengths and weaknesses and yes, it’s good to challenge yourself, but at the same time, it’s also very important to know what you can do and what your skill or ability is.”
Written and directed by Gaurav Dave, The list now streaming for free on Amazon miniTV, Amazon Shopping App and Fire TV, as part of the Mini Movie Festival.
