Anupam Kher, who recently featured in films like The Kashmir Archives and Karthikeia 2, has backed Yash Raj Films chief Aditya Chopra after filmmaker Anurag Kashyap blamed him for the failure of their recent releases. The director had commented how the director-producer sits in a desk and keeps directing his employees on every little issue. In his defence, Anupam maintained that it was not easy to build and sustain an empire like YRF films.

In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, as the veteran actor was seen promoting Karthikeia 2 of the star cast, Anupam Kher said, “I am very, very proud of Aditya Chopra. Yash ji’s family is like my own family. Building an empire like Yash Raj Films is not an easy thing. It’s easy for people to make comments. I don’t want to judge what he said again. It is not absolute authority over human behavior.”
His comment comes after Anurag Kashyap spoke about Yash Raj Films’ recent string of flops. Their last 3 releases which featured superstars like Ranveer Singh Jayeshbhai JordaarAkshay Kumar in Samrat Prithvirajand Ranbir Kapoor – Sanjay Dutt in Samsera turned out to be box office disasters. Addressing the issue, the director had told Galatta Plus, “You have a person sitting in a cave, who doesn’t know the world outside, dictating how everyone should make their films and telling them what to do. If Aditya Chopra has hired a bunch of people, he should empower them and not dictate to them, not control the casting, not control everything. Sit in your office, hire good people if you trust them and let them make their movie – which is the mistake he’s making! He doesn’t let them.”
Anupam Kher has been a part of some of YRF’s biggest films like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Darr, Lamheincluding.
