Addressing his countrymen, Murugadoss appealed not to take India’s independence for granted. He spoke of our brave fight for freedom and highlighted many of the pains and bruises that were left behind after the battle. The storyteller ended his talk with an inspirational message as well.
Murugadoss’s letter had a powerful and impressive impact on the audience. His honest confession about why he chose to produce August 16, 1947 also won a lot of applause. Talking about its emotional note, AR Murugadoss said, “Freedom is not given to you, it is something you earn through struggle and self-belief. In my personal life, I neither come from a film background nor have formal training, and yet, I overcame all these fears to make films.”
Details about his upcoming release August 16, 1947added, “Initially, we intended this film to be released in Tamil, but as we progressed, the unanimous reaction was that our story should be seen on a larger pan-Indian scale. August 16, 1947 it will surprise and enchant you all at the same time. During a time when the country was stuck in a British cage, our film tells the story of a village trapped in a cage within a cage and how it bravely fought back.”
Acclaimed producer Jayantilal Gada was also present at the event. The man behind hits like Kahaani, Gangubai Kathiawadi and RRRMr. Gada is all set to introduce the Hindi version August 16, 1947.
Produced by AR Murugadoss along with Om Prakash Bhatt and Narsiram Choudhary, August 16, 1947 is the story of an old village, where a man inspires his countrymen to fight against the evil British rulers, just as India is about to gain freedom. A story of courage, patriotism and love, the film is set to hit theaters worldwide in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam and English on April 7.
