West Side Story Scene thief and Oscar nominee Ariana DeBose has joined the cast of Sony’s upcoming film Kraven the Hunterper Deadline.
Although unconfirmed, it is believed that DeBose will take on the role of Calypso. Calypso is a voodoo priestess who uses filters against her enemies. In addition to being a recurring rival to Spider-Man, Calypso is also the occasional companion and lover of the film’s character title, Kraven.
Kraven the Hunter will be Sony’s fourth competitor in the Spider-Man universe, after two Poison movies and 2022 Morbius. Craven will be directed by JC Chandor (Triple Frontier), with the screenplay coming from Art Marcum, Matt Holloway and Richard Wenk.

DeBose is on a steadily growing cast list with Aaron Taylor-Johnson returning to the Marvel world in the title role, Russell Crowe in an unconfirmed role, and Fred Hechinger previously announced as another unconfirmed role (though believed to be will take over Chameleon, Craven’s half-brother.
