It’s not all bad news for Ben Affleck: Hypnotic has received acclaim from a prominent critic and the actor is ecstatic. For the rest of us, it’s like we’re back in the Bennifer era when Affleck and now-wife Jennifer Lopez released the disastrous film Gigli.
Although Gigli Stopped at the box office nearly two decades ago, the pair seem to be suffering from the same terrible movie reviews again. Critics were harsh on the married couple’s two successful films, Hypnotic (with Affleck) and The mother (featuring Lopez), was released on May 12.
But to Entertainment Tonighthis exclusive look behind the scenes, the actor revealed that one of his harshest critics – his daughter – gave his latest a thumbs up.
“My kids make fun of me all the time and won’t watch any of my movies, but I showed them some clips of it and my daughter said, ‘That looks really interesting!'” “So I thought that was the best review I could get and hopefully the audience will come away from it having really enjoyed the film.”
The younger generation of Afflecks may enjoy watching their dad play a detective investigating his missing daughter who gets caught up in a conspiracy, but they’re definitely in the minority.
Robert Rodriguez directed and co-wrote the screenplay Hypnotic with Max Borenstein; Also pictured are Alice Braga, JD Pardo, Hala Finley, Dayo Okeniyi, Jeff Fahey, Jackie Earle Haley and William Fichtner.
