On Saturday, producer Boney Kapoor shared a retrospective image from the 1963 Mahinder of Surinder Kapoor’s father’s first film, Jabse Tumhe Dekha Hai.
In the black-and-white retrospective, Surinder appears to be smiling as Raj Kapoor looks away from the camera holding the shoulders of two children. The photo also shows Raj’s wife, Krishna Raj Kapoor, and Surinder’s wife, Nirmal Kapoor. Boney wrote in the caption of the photo: “My first step into a movie studio for Mahurat in my father’s first film.”
Surinder was Raj’s father, Prithviraj Kapoor, his first cousin. Surinder began his career as secretary to actress Geeta Bali. Later, he became a film producer.

Surinder later began producing his own films such as Shehzada, Ponga Pandit, Pukar, No Entry, Humara Dil Aapke Pass Hai and many more.
Surinder married Nirmal in 1955 and together they have three sons, Boney Kapoor, Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor. Boney made his Bollywood career as a producer while his younger brothers Anil and Sanjay made their acting careers. In September 2011, Surinder died of a heart attack.
Last December, Anil also shared a retrospective photo of Surinder on Instagram. Sharing a black-and-white photo, Anil wrote: “I like to believe that my father lives inside me. In the lessons he taught us, in the love he gave us, but most importantly in the values I believe in, which I recognize as his own – faith, honesty, humility, empathy “.

Explaining how Schurider raised his children, Anil added: “Even at that time, he trusted his children to find their own voice and their own way, he never dictated the direction of their lives or careers. . We stumbled, we fought, we collected ourselves and we cleaned the dirt, without ever giving up the search for our destiny. “What he has given us is what I have always tried to give our children – faith in the power of goodness, dedication to honest hard work and the courage to overcome the storms of their lives.”
